Delete your account
This is the public account-deletion page for Zam Zam Messenger. English is the authoritative text.
How to request deletion
Zam Zam does not yet have an in-app delete button, and this website cannot delete an account for you. There is no form on this page, because a form that is not tied to a secure sign-in would not be a real deletion control.
Email privacy@zamzam.chat and ask us to delete the account. Include:
- the username
- the phone number on the account
- a short statement that you want the account deleted
We use those details to match the request to an account. If we cannot match them, we will reply and ask for something we can check. Do not send a verification code, a password, or a private key.
What deletion covers
When we carry out a verified request, we delete the account and the data we hold for it that the product can remove. That includes the profile, devices, sessions, push tokens, privacy settings, blocks, story records, conversation membership, and server-side message material held for delivery.
Private message content is end-to-end encrypted. We do not have the keys, so deletion of our copy removes ciphertext and metadata we hold. It does not decrypt anything. Copies that remain on someone else’s device are not erased by deleting your account. Removing the app from your own devices removes the local copy on those devices.
What may be retained
We may retain information the law requires, or that we still need for security or unresolved abuse handling. That can include a record that a deletion was requested and completed, and an open abuse report. We do not keep deleted accounts as a way to read old private conversations.
Zam Zam does not offer encrypted cloud backup. If an operational database copy exists outside the product, it is not something you can restore an account from. The product does not define a public retention period for operational copies, so this page does not invent one.
It is meant to be permanent
Deletion is irreversible. We cannot rebuild end-to-end encrypted history after the account and its devices are removed. A username may become available again only after deletion is finished. Do not rely on signing up again to recover chats.
How long it takes
Deletion is not an automated product feature yet, so there is no coded deadline to quote. We will reply to a verified request and tell you when the account has been deleted. If you need a status update, write to the same privacy address and include the username.
If you only lost a device
Removing one device is not the same as deleting the account. From a device that is still signed in, you can revoke the lost device. That signs it out and rotates encryption so it should stop receiving new messages. If every device is gone, use the deletion request above, or write to support@zamzam.chat and we will tell you what we can do.
