Your Data & Privacy Choices

English is the authoritative text. These are the controls that exist today, not a list of buttons this website does not have.

In the app

• Last seen can be everybody, people you already chat with, or nobody.
• Profile photo visibility uses the same three choices.
• Read receipts can be turned off. They are shown only when both people have them on.
• Notifications can be limited. The default notification does not include message text. You can allow the sender’s name.
• You can block someone. A block stops messages from them, and you disappear from each other’s contact discovery.
• You can report a person or a conversation.
• You can archive, mute, or leave chats, and you can delete a message for yourself or for everyone in chats that support it.
• You can sign out, or remove a device from a device that is still signed in.

Contact discovery

There is no separate switch to opt out of being discoverable by phone number. Discovery runs only when someone uses it, and only against numbers they submit. If you block someone, neither of you is returned in the other’s discovery results. Your phone number is still not shown on your public profile.

Access and export

The apps do not yet include a “download my data” action, and this website does not have one either. Email privacy@zamzam.chat from a message we can match to the account. Include your username. We can provide account information we hold, such as your username, display name, and phone number. We cannot export readable private messages, because those messages are end-to-end encrypted and we do not have the keys.

Delete your account

There is no in-app or website button that deletes an account yet. The current process is on the delete account page.

Marketing

Zam Zam does not currently send marketing email. There is no marketing list to join or leave. This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies.
